The second Global DPI (Digital Public Infrastructure) Summit took place in November in Cape Town, South Africa. Over 1000 leaders from 100+ countries gathered to talk about a crucial topic: digitising government, the socio-economic enabler.

The focus this year shifted from strategy and adopting a common language to action and implementation — sharing ideas, tools, and investments to radically accelerate progress and deliver greater value for money.

Silverstripe CEO Sigurd Magnusson joined the panel “How the Private Sector Can Accelerate DPI Adoption”, highlighting how collaboration across governments, global NGOs, and multinational and local businesses can drive real impact. Sig shared that it was inspiring to see the growing global cooperation already underway across continents — sometimes moving faster than collaboration within individual domestic systems.

A key moment was South African Minister Solly Malatsi (Department of Communications and Digital Technologies) demonstrating the current work in progress of MyMzansi — a platform that leverages Silverstripe’s DPI Connect open source framework, and achieved in partnership with organisations spanning South Africa, New Zealand, India, the UK, and more.

MyMzansi aims to provide people living in South Africa with a single, trusted platform to access government services more easily, efficiently, and cost-effectively.

Conference attendees were also able to participate in collaborative workshops and gain a walk-through demo discussion to learn much more and contribute ideas to the initiative.

Shout out to South Africa but also to all our partners, including Open Cities Lab(opens in new tab), Amazon Web Services ( AWS(opens in new tab)), and Ooru Digital(opens in new tab).
