Our Platform Engineering team is responsible for ensuring Silverstripe’s Platform is market leading for the Silverstripe CMS. This includes working with AWS and other vendors to enable and create new features as defined by the platform roadmap. The team is accountable for platform features and the handover of new features to the operational reliability team, while ensuring solutions provided are secure and documented and have a well understood lifecycle.
This role serves to lead and mentor the Platform Engineering team to ensure that workloads are balanced, work frameworks are embedded and utilised effectively, and continuous improvement is embraced. While you may not be an engineer yourself, you have enough knowledge to be conversant in this space and to support innovation along with being able to provide effective reporting.
Requirements
What will I be doing?
- Leading, coaching, and empowering an awesome team by creating an inspiring environment with a transparent culture
- Working with Agile and ITIL as well as a fostering a strong vision of how to make these frameworks work for the team and support the wider organisation
- Managing team resourcing and workloads to ensure that work is effectively completed, and solutions implemented swiftly and effectively
- Reporting on work completed and problems addressed along with opportunities for improvement
- Driving engineering excellence through collaboration with a wide range of business and technical stakeholders
- Promoting an exceptional experience for our clients and engaging with internal stakeholders
- Supporting the team in solving problems related to the mission critical services and build automation to proactively detect and prevent their reoccurrence
- Leading technical operations on key initiatives or projects from requirements to design to implementation.
We’re looking for people who are:
- Known for their technical team leadership and mentorship with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Keen innovators and advocates for their team
- Skilled at managing resourcing and workload to support the team and achieve the necessary outcomes
- Agile and/or ITIL enthusiasts and comfortable finding ways to make these methodologies work for the team
- Adept at resolving conflict and removing blockers to ensure clients receive appropriate customer service
- Comfortable working with some ambiguity and able to self-direct work to achieve agreed outcomes
- Motivated to build best practices and deliver on the vision through action and transparency.
What will I need to be successful?
- 3 years’ experience in a technical leadership role
- Experience leading teams working in DevOps and Automation
- Comprehension of Infrastructure as Code and a strong preference for automation
- Understanding of AWS; website development and hosting; agile methodologies and software development.
