Content Lead
Description
Are you passionate about user-centred content and looking for your next challenge? We have an awesome opportunity for a Content Lead to join a great New Zealand brand and really take your career to the next level.
At Silverstripe, we create compelling experiences for people online using creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Making the complex simple in the digital world doesn’t just involve tech—it involves teams filled with determined people working to improve the lives of those around them.
We’re looking for a skilled web content expert to join our Strategy & Design team. You’ll support our clients and partners to create, evaluate, and update content for their existing and new websites. This mahi will see you work across multiple projects and clients at any time, bridging a range voice, tone, and sectors.
Ideally, you will have contagious enthusiasm for content best practice, including meeting organisation and user need through accessibility, readability, and usability. Users of “click here” in their content need not apply. Bonus points if you’re already experienced in getting the most out of Silverstripe CMS.
What will I be doing?
- Working directly with our clients and partners, alongside Silverstripers in Strategy & Design (including Experience Designers and Delivery Directors)
- Delivering content requirements for client projects and ongoing support arrangements, including:
- producing content that meets client and user need
- developing content guidelines (for example, style guides)
- measuring content performance
- recommending content adjustments and further work
- Collaborating with clients’ in-house authors, editors, designers, subject matter experts, and approvers
- Supporting Experience Designers and Delivery Directors to lead discovery and design phases of projects (in particular, advocating for content design practices to be incorporated where appropriate)
- Co-designing content briefs with clients
- Helping clients achieve best practice content through their Silverstripe CMS instances
- Supporting Silverstripe’s internal content work, along with colleagues in Strategy & Design and Marketing, primarily for Silverstripe.com, a new Silverstripe.org, and demo sites (plus occasional support for sales and marketing resources, technical documents, and other content as required)
- Advocating for Silverstripers to meet and maintain high written standards.
Requirements
We’re looking for people who are:
- Passionate about great website content: balancing organisation and user need through accessible, readable, and useable content.
- Confident communicators: whether it be clients’ communications and marketing teams, our experience designers and developers, or content subject matter experts, you’ll be an expert at communicating with confidence and empathy.
- Comfortable with change and ambiguity: working across multiple clients and projects, while identifying opportunities and connecting the dots to scale work effectively.
- Quality focused: embracing peer reviews, user testing, and iteration.
- Analytical: with the ability to use evidence, data, best-practice advice—and occasionally gut instinct—to make content decisions.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- 5+ years experience in content design, web writing, web editing, or similar types of work (ideally including at least one project involving either a new website or significant overhaul)
- Track record of communicating in simple and meaningful ways
- Proven background in plain language writing and transformation
- Knowledge of the New Zealand Government Web Standards
- Prior experience with mastering the application of style guides, but also knowing when to break the rules
- Ability to use analytics tools (for example, Google Analytics or Hotjar) to inform content creation, evaluation, and updating
- Previous experience working within Agile methodologies
- Experience in managing content within the Silverstripe CMS is highly advantageous, but not critical.
