Try to install SilverStripe. Everything is oke, except de name of de database: when I enter the name:
jackvans-nl, Silverstripe changes it in: jackvansnl. Problem!
Anyone a suggestion? Thanx!

Generally it is a good idea not to include dashes in your database names - they're special characters that (in certain situations) require additional escaping. It's much more cross-platform friendly to use underscores.
Doesn't solve your problem, but it's possible that it's a limitation of SS or the database connectors and you might just need to rename your dbs.

The "-" in the database name is not my choice. I'm afraid I can't change the name. I hoped there was some kind of a patch, as there is for Joomla: Joomla 1.5.2 installer patch.

Hi there, just to jump in on this thread I'm having the same problem, my provider automatically adds it's server name to the front of my databases,e.g. web170-databasename
I'm a bit new at the whole php thing and was wondering if there is just a part of the install.php that can be commented out to prevent it trying to change the name to web170databasename.
regards
Mick
