Feasibility to transfer existing ASP cms to Silverstripe Link to this post

    Hi,
I've developed www.bamm.org.uk using PortalApp (ASP with Access database) from Iatek. But we are considering new environments that will work better with web2 widgets.

Would it be possible to migrate content or would I have to re-key by hand?

It doesn't look (from a quick browse) that the site is too big. I mean it uses a database so you could write SQL query which exported data from various tables and then threw it into premade tables in SilverStripe but I doubt that will work and if it did it would easily eclipse the time needed to copy it!

I would recommend creating the site in SilverStripe and copying the content over. Plus it gives you a chance while your at it to review the content make sure its up to date and still valid! Over time content can become messy with formatting and bits tacked on and edited and reworked so its a good chance to have a nice fresh look at it! Or just CTRL + C and CTRL + V the content and have a coffee at hand!
