SilverStripe CMS Opensourced!

Posted by Tim on 10 October 2006

We’re pleased to announce we’ve released SilverStripe CMS under an open source license for all to enjoy.

The SilverStripe CMS is a modern, object orientated platform written in PHP5, which is great for developing websites and web application with. The key points of differences are;

  1. Usability. It’s really easy to use - someone who has never edited a website can be managing their site with a few minutes of training.
  2. Ease of customization. Websites, like business are valuable because of their differences, and we’ve made it really easy for developers to customize the system to their needs.
  3. Extensibility. Websites are just the start of things, it’s extensible enough to deploy over a wide range of web based applications such as intranets or totally bespoke applications.
  4. Licensing Terms.  SilverStripe is licensed under the BSD license – meaning it can be freely used and integrated with other applications.
  5. Support. We provide full commercial support – meaning when you need help, you can get it direct from our developers.

That’s what we think makes it different anyway, but we’d love to hear what you think – head along to the downloads or demo page to give it a whirl.
