New Zealand Community Trust
Site purpose
New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) reviews thousands of applications for grant money comprised of funds collected from gaming machine operators across New Zealand. Applicants include amateur sporting clubs, rescue and life-saving services, education, health, the arts, and cultural and community groups.
To manage and facilitate the distribution of over $30 million of grant money every year, NZCT needed a robust grants management system. SilverStripe worked with NZCT to create the core application which runs their organisation.
What we did
- We determined goals and needs, so we could architect the application appropriately, by interviewing key staff from the various departments within NZCT.
- We built a custom web application from the ground up which supports NZCT's workflow in a flexible and highly efficient manner.
- We built in rock-solid auditing of data.
- We integrated with banking systems, online applications, and document scanning servers.
What users can do now
The grants management system is now the core of how NZCT runs their business. The system is used by around twenty staff on a daily basis, (and around fifty staff on a monthly basis).
Measures of success
After its initial launch early in 2007, we have continued to work with NZCT to extend the functionality of the system. Thanks to the flexibility of the SilverStripe platform, we were able to help NZCT change many of their legacy processes, which resulted in significant financial savings.
