Careers with SilverStripe
Senior PHP Developer
On the success of the Democratic Convention site, The Women's Conference and our other recent client work, we have heaps of work on and more coming in. Recently we've begun some work with Aussie and European clients that has us really excited.
We're looking to add to our development team with a fantastic full-time PHP developer. We are constantly adding awesome tech to our open source web development framework and if you meet the requirements below you could be sitting in our Wellington office building web apps for our clients and contributing to our open source framework.
Are you keen to create web applications in PHP that can change the weather? Teach the world to sing? Make comic book characters come to life? If yes, then we want to talk to you.
This is a key role because you'll be working on some leading-edge websites and you'll have the chance to contribute to the core of the open source SilverStripe Framework and CMS. We're looking for someone who is excellent in PHP but willing to dive in to Python, bash, or other languages with diligence and eagerness. We want someone who will thrive in a fast-paced environment, using Agile techniques to work with clients/colleagues to create amazing, fresh, chocolaty web goodness.
Here are the specifics of what we're after:
Mandatory
- 4+ years PHP development experience. Some backend experience would be very useful. By "backend" we specifically mean database and middle (business logic) layer. Included in your PHP experience you will need to have professional experience with PHP's object-orientation.
- Development (not user) experience with at least one content management, wiki, or blogging system.
- Desire to contribute to the SilverStripe core technology.
- Ability and willingness to work with clients.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to work full-time out of our office in Wellington CBD (sorry, no telecommuting.)
- Ability to thrive in a workplace that plays a variety of music every day.
Desired
- Excellent CSS or HTML abilities.
- Experience with our MVC / ORM web framework, Sapphire. If you have experience with Symfony, CakePHP, Rails, or Django, that would be helpful.
- A wonderful sense of visual or interaction design.
- Experience being a part of Agile projects.
- Javascript development experience (Prototype or JQuery experience is preferable.)
If you meet or exceed the above mandatory requirements and can talk intelligently about at least one of the desired's, we'd love to talk with you. Send your CV with a short cover letter to moc.2tnelat@retsbew.ttam.
Come rock the world with us!
Only those currently qualified to work in New Zealand will be considered.
