We're delighted to learn this week that we placed as the second "most promising CMS" out of almost sixty CMS packages worldwide, by virtue of thousands of votes made by the public.

Damian Carvill, marketing manager at Packtpub, who ran the well recognised Open Source CMS awards, explains:

"From the feedback that I’ve received and the amount of community support you’re generating, I can see a bright future ahead for SilverStripe. You actually placed second in the vote on the website, behind MODx, which shows the level of community support you received. The general feedback from judges was that SilverStripe came across as a nice, clean site with a good admin interface. They particularly liked the use of AJAX in the admin. One comment was although it is a CMS, it comes across as a framework, which was a bonus."

With SilverStripe being considerably younger than MODx and other finalists, we're impressed by your level of support to give us this rank. However, since there's only been months, not years, for us to produce documentation, localisation, themes and modules, the judges felt other finalists had more out of the box functionality and so were awarded the offical prizes.

This makes sense because we've focused on ensuring the framework and usability of the CMS is awesome to work with. While its true some alternatives have more out of the box modules, a compelling website is generally much more than simply a few modules, and our application framework for SilverStripe allows you to make custom functionality much more quickly.
