Sun, who recently purchased MySQL for US $1 billion dollars, were interested to learn more about SilverStripe, and our experience with MySQL and Sun. They were also keen to learn about our involvement with powering the Democratic National Convention website because MySQL powers the database behind it.
Completing my interviews with the top three GHOP students in terms of quantity of tasks, is Jeff from San Jose, considered the capital of the Silicon Valley. His work in the contest so far includes website themes, a website, widgets, and translating SilverStripe's interface into Taiwan's dialect of Chinese.

On Friday, I was invited to speak with Dion Almaer about the SilverStripe project, our decision around PHP5, and how we ensured success with our participation in the the Google Summer of Code program which provided us with ten fulltime programmers to work on our project.
Making our software free is a key part of SilverStripe's philosophy, along with making it easier for people to build and manage websites.
