We are pleased to announce a new build of SilverStripe as we get closer to a final 2.0 release. The latest version contains a number of bug fixes, and general interface improvements over the previous release.
Of note Ingo has done some great work on the “details view” for members, newsletters and "files and images". We are now using a “light box” as opposed to a “bottom” frame to display the details of a specific record – this gives us more usable space to work with and generally allows us to support more complex interfaces. We’ve also added support for paging (so you can easily change between items in the list), and an Ajax auto-complete.
A number of the bugs with the Windows installer have been fixed which should make life easier for those of you wanting to have a play on your local machine before moving to a production environment.
NOTE: You'll visit http://localhost:3000/db/build to setup the database after it's been installed.
We are planning on publishing nightly builds directly to this site in the next six – eight weeks. The main challenge here is integrating these nightly builds with our automated testing process so you can get an idea about the general stability of these “non official” releases.

Sorry to hear that you've had so much trouble with the installer, Paul! We'll look into it.

Hmmm... I just installed the beta 1 version, and immediately ran into trouble. Some command window popped up briefly and said some service had failed to start, and I should type something like "net help 3541" for further information. The window disappeared in a flash.
The services in my control panel said all services were running OK. I made sure my firewall accepted the requests that were being made of it. I rebooted just to get things on an even keel... then tried looking up http://localhost:3000. Loads of errors.
I went looking for the install folder to see if I could find logs. Not obvious where it is.
All in all I don't think you guys can yet claim it to be simple enough for my mother to use!!!
